The Programme
This is a hospitality and catering programme aimed at learners who aspire to be hospitality/event managers, head chefs or equivalent. The course is designed to engage the learner through practical and class based units and in year two of the programme learners will have an exciting opportunity to plan and implement a themed event evening within our professional restaurant.
The Programme Content
The course involves many practical aspects and underpins the essential knowledge required for the 12 BTEC Units with either an NVQ at Level 2 in serving food and drink OR a VRQ Level 2 Diploma in professional cookery.

Contemporary cuisine
Event management
Asian cuisine
Wine service and tasting
Bar management
Asian cuisine
Customer service
Additionally there are a number of other qualifications that learners can achieve including Food Hygiene and Wines & Spirits. Work experience is part of the programme and there may be opportunities to work in another European country.
Progression / Careers
Learners can progress to study here at the College for an HND/Foundation Degree in Hospitality or Event Management or for a Degree in Hospitality or Event Management with some additional Level 3 qualifications such as AS Level subjects, or work in industry as a junior manager or on a company management training scheme. In recent years some students have progressed onto degrees in hospitality management and gastronomy or have successfully gained positions at a supervisory level.
