Housing NVQ Level 3 Accreditation Body: City and Guilds Introduction/Summary It is vital that housing staff have the skills they need to provide a good service to clients and the wider community. This NVQ will ensure staff are working to the national standards set by the housing sector. Qualification The City & Guilds Level 3 S/NVQ in Housing has been specially designed for anyone working in the housing sector who wishes to develop their skills or gain a formal recognition of their existing skills. Participants take five mandatory units plus a further three optional units. The wide choice of optional units gives a high level of flexibility, allowing the qualification to be tailored to meet the varying needs of participants and employers across all employment sectors. Mandatory Units
- Process documents relating to housing services
- Develop and maintain open and honest relationships with customers
- Obtain and provide information to customers and others
- Manage yourself
- Ensure you own actions reduce risks to health and safety
Optional units – the following are optional units, from which 3 much be chosen:
- Allocate accommodation to meet customers’ needs
- Set up and manage agreements
- Respond to issues which customers have identified
- Support and promote the rights of customers in the community
- Inspect the condition of property
- Organise the maintenance and repair of property
- Arrange and conduct meetings with customers and others
- Promote people’s equality, diversity and rights
- Promote communication with individuals where there are communication differences
- Contribute to the protection of individuals from abuse
- Enable individuals to maintain contacts in potentially isolating situations
- Enable individuals to administer their financial affairs
- Respond to possible breaches of agreements
Requirements In order to work towards this qualification, candidates must be working in any of the following areas as a paid employee or volunteer – they will have considerable responsibility and autonomy. The learner may need assistance in compiling this and where more than one learner from your organisation is completing the management NVQ each one will need a separate copy of the above.
