Course programme
About the course
This course will explore the nature of the grief process in the couple where both are ‘primary mourners' in a loss which may be almost impossible to bear. How do couples mourn together?
Course content and Objectives
The workshop will put forward a bereavement model which explores how the couple may help or hinder one another in both a conscious and unconscious way. How do they present in therapy? Participants are encouraged to bring a clinical material, as it relates to the topic, for group discussion. This course will be predominantly psychodynamic, a systemic approach will be integrated and no specialist knowledge of psychodynamic theory is required.
The course will highlight a variety of specific learning styles including:
- Teaching theory
- Group discussion
- Case presentation by the trainer and those in the group, should they wish
- Small and large group discussion and group presentation
- Experiential exercises and some role play
- Presentation of DVD material to prompt discussion
