ICT - Advanced - Diploma
If you choose to study the ICT Diploma, you will learn how to think, question, explore, create and communicate. You will learn the processes and specialist knowledge that is common to the ICT and computing industries.
What will I study?
You will need to study a total of seven compulsory units and some optional units from the following disciplines:
· Using ICT systems and networks.
· Multimedia and digital projects.
· Systems analysis and database design.
· Creating technology solutions in business.
· Managing technology systems.
In addition, you can deepen your knowledge by taking a more specialist course in multimedia production, games design, software development, computer hardware and networking. Vendor qualifications such as CISCO IT Essentials and CCNA may also be available. This course has a minimum requirement of 10 days' work experience.
This will give you the chance to develop and apply the skills you have learned in the classroom. You will also get the chance to learn from, and be mentored by, professionals
How will I be assessed?
Assessment is ongoing throughout your course. You will also complete a project to demonstrate the skills and knowledge you have acquired. You will be encouraged to develop skills like teamwork and self- management, as part of your course. You will learn how to express yourself confidently, and how to apply your knowledge and skills creatively in a business environment.
What enrichment will there be?
Activities include:
· Digital Futures at Bolton University.
· Visiting speakers.
· Networking project.
What could I do next?
Career opportunities include games design, software development, database design, systems analysis and network administration. However, it doesn't necessarily mean you have to pursue a career in the ICT or computing sector. The diploma gives you relevant, transferable skills that will be welcomed by universities and employers in many other sector.
