What you can do in ICT

How well you are progressing and how to achieve the top grades.

How you will learn

All of your lessons will be spent in a computer room where you will have individual access to a computer. You will work on your own or in small groups and will develop skills such as problem solving and working to deadlines.

This demanding course will offer you a variety of learning opportunities including assignments, case studies and a work placement opportunity.

How you will be assessed

All six units require the creation of a portfolio of evidence, no external examination is involved.

Your portfolio will be made up of assignments produced using a variety of software packages including word processing, spreadsheets, databases and graphics packages.

To complete these assignments you will need to collect information from a wide variety of sources including the College Intranet and the Internet.

Other complementary subjects

This is a full time course on its own however students who have not achieved a GCSE grade C in Maths and English are actively encouraged to retake them during the year. Students taking this course usually see their future career involving a significant amount of IT.

What you can do after this course

This is an appropriate qualification for students wishing to pursue a career in ICT and for those who feel an understanding of ICT will allow them to study or work more effectively.
