About this course

Participants will normally be either practising or aspiring first line managers. Although there are no formal educational requirements, learners should have a background that will enable them to benefit from the programme. They are managers who practise and will engage much more extensively in managerial tasks, which other members will not engage in.

Introduction:
This programme gives practising or potential Managers the foundation for their formal development in this role.

Study Mode & Location:
This 11 week course will be held at Preston College, Fulwood Campus, St Vincent`s Road, Preston, PR2 8UR.

Course Content:
The course consists of a short induction lasting 2 hours, followed by ten segments of 3 hours each to cover the following topics:

  • Problem Solving Skills
  • Planning Change
  • Using Information for Decisions,
  • Completion of a Personal Development Record


Assessment:
The course is assessed by Segment Reviews covering the 4 optional segments and One Work-based Assignment of not less than 1000 words (externally assessed).

Careers & Progression Opportunities:
On completion of the programme delegates may wish to progress on to the Full Certificate in First Line Management or NVQ Level 3 in Management.

How To Apply
You will need to have an informal interview with a Adult Admissions Adviser.
Many courses have limited places so please enquire as soon as possible. Following interview, the earliest you may enrol is mid-June.
