This course has been designed to give practising or aspiring first line managers a solid foundation in their formal development as a manager. It is a concise qualification which gives an introduction to the basic skills, knowledge and understanding required by today's first line manager.

Course Content:
The course consists of one mandatory unit: Solving Problems and making decisions. This unit is designed to develop practical techniques for tackling managerial problems and making decisions from gathering and interpreting information through to the effective communication of outcomes.

Candidates must also complete a selection of optional units, examples of which include:

Understanding change in the workplace.

Achieving objectives through time management.

Managing customer service.

Managing conflict in the workplace.

Effective meetings for managers.

Marketing for managers.

Assessment:
Depending on the units selected, assessment will consist of: Work-based assignments, reflective reviews, knowledge reviews, oral presentations, role-play/scenarios, written reports or centre-devised alternatives.

Careers & Progression Opportunities:
On completion of the programme delegates may wish to progress on to the Certificate in First Line Management or the NVQ Level 3 in Management.

You may need to have an informal interview with a Adult Admissions Adviser before enrolling on this course.
Many courses have limited places so please enquire as soon as possible. Following interview, the earliest you may enrol is mid-June.
