iMedia Certificate
The course is designed to enable you to:
  • Develop your knowledge of a range of different software applications and your ability to use these effectively to complete tasks
  • Develop your ability to manage information and data in a variety of applications
Is it for me?
The course suits those who have some basic ICT skills and want to be more creative with them. It requires team work for group projects, so it is good preparation for people wanting to work in media roles. This course is at intermediate level and is equivalent to one GCSE. Assessment is coursework based and most assignments are practical.
What's involved?
Digital Graphics
This practical unit is designed to provide you with an understanding of the types and uses of digital graphics. You will develop skills in using digital image manipulation software to edit digital images and save these in different formats.
Digital Video
Gain an understanding of the skills required to prepare and capture digital video. You will investigate the technology used in the production industry, learn the techniques for using a digital video camera to capture footage and use basic editing tools and the features of appropriate software to store, edit and produce the assembly cut of a video sequence.
Interactive Multimedia Concepts
This unit is designed to introduce you to multimedia technologies, applications and design processes. You will investigate how multimedia is used effectively in a range of existing professional products. You will develop knowledge and skills to creatively design and implement elements of a multimedia product using multimedia authoring tools.
Progression
On completion of the iMedia Certificate many students will progress to advanced level courses, including AS/A2 Media Studies. Others will progress to employment.
