Indian Head and Shoulder Massage - basic

Your Course
This is a "hands on" 5 week introductory course in Indian Head and Shoulder Massage. You will be shown basic massage hand movements for working on the upper back, shoulders, neck and scalp. The course ends with Energy Balancing Techniques. Participants need to be prepared to work on each other in pairs. Manual supplied. No note taking is required.
Participants are asked to wear comfortable, loose fitting clothes (not good clothing in case of oil spillage). Please bring a towel to each session and a bottle of drinking water
Learning Outcomes
By the end of the 5 week course you will have had the opportunity to:
· Have received an introduction to and a brief history of Indian Head and Shoulder Massage in the UK
· Receive a broad overview of the muscles and bone structure of the areas massaged
· Be able to perform a short self-treatment sequence
· Be able to set up an appropriate treatment environment
· Be able to locate the seven main energy centres in the body
· Be able to outline the main benefits and effects of treatment and aftercare advice
· Understand the contra-indications to receiving an Indian Head and Shoulder Massage
Your Tutor
Karen Briscombe is an Indian Head and Shoulder Massage Practitioner/Tutor and member of the Federation of Holistic Therapists. She has been teaching Indian Head Massage in Community Education and workshops since 2001 and trained through the International Institute of Health and Holistic Therapies (IHHHT)
Day and time: Monday 7.00 - 9.00pm

Number of sessions: 5
Tuition fees: £45
Method of payment: Fees for short courses (10 weeks or less) to be paid in full at enrolment and for long courses (12 weeks or more) fees of 50% can be paid at enrolment plus 50% as a cheque. Course places cannot be reserved without receipt of both payments.

Please note that there are no classes during half term Monday 15th - Friday 19th February 2010 unless otherwise stated.
