Starting from observation of the still-life subject, you will explore working creatively with colour-mixing and paint application to focus on light and atmosphere. You will have the option of developing one painting, or working in series (as Morandi) on 2-3 painted studies. This may also lead you to more abstract imagery, where appropriate.

Course programme

On this weekend course, with guidance, you will explore and develop:
- colour-mixing, using a limited palette
- paint application to depict light on objects
- use of oils and/or acrylics
- individual focus and interest in the application of paint.

Demonstration and practical application. One to one and group discussion. Basic materials will be provided: paint and cartridge paper, plus some brushes, but you are welcome to bring any extra or special materials. You may wish to bring a couple of ready-primed boards, suitable for painting in acrylics or oils; suggested sizes would be from A5 (small) up to A3 maximum (easier to transport when still wet).
