Instructing Exercise & Fitness NVQ Level 2

Course Overview
This course is suitable for students progressing from Fitness Level 1 and anyone with an interest in fitness as a career.

Course Structure
The programme is delivered over one academic year (36 weeks). The following topics will be covered:

• Exercise & Fitness Knowledge
• D410 - Plan & Prepare a Gym-based Exercise Session.
• D411 - Instructing a Gym-based Exercise Session.
• D416 - Evaluate Coaching Sessions and Improve Personal Practice.
• D417 'Support Participants in Developing and Maintaining Fitness
• C35 -Deal with Accidents & Emergencies
• Literacy and Numeracy
• Key Skills ICT

Qualification Aims
Central YMCA Qualifications â€" Level 2 NVQ in Instructing Exercise and Fitness (Gym-Based Exercise).

Assessments/Examinations
Continual written and practical assessments/assignments in both theory and practical aspects of the course. Practical assessments are carried out in a realistic work environment (RWE) on fee-paying clients. A portfolio of evidence is compiled throughout the course and submitted for final verification.

If you are 19 years of age or over at the start of the course, the tuition fee's may be payable for£495 per year.

Free tuition is available to those in receipt of certain means tested benefits or totheir un-waged dependants.

Requirement
4GCSE's at grade D-E OR equivalent. Successful College interview. Target testing (attainment relating to level). Satisfactory school report or references. A knowledge of and interest in fitness is desirable and will be assessed at interview. As part of the Entry Requirements it is important to note that, as this is a service industry, students must meet the demands of the course which include: good interpersonal and communication skills, personal hygiene, health requirements and positive personal attributes.
