Intermediate Apprenticeship in Refrigeration or Air Conditioning - Day Release

The Intermediate Apprenticeship in Refrigeration or Air Conditioning is ideal for those who have an aptitude for technical subjects, are practically minded, have an interest in technology and are seeking to start a career as a refrigeration or air conditioning engineer. It is also suitable for those who have relevant experience but do not have a relevant refrigeration or air conditioning qualification. Two pathways are offered: -Refrigeration -Air conditioning Each pathway covers the installation, testing and maintenance of systems as appropriate to the pathway. In addition, each pathway has units relating to; communications in building services engineering; environmental protection measures; scientific principles in mechanical engineering services; safe working practices; site preparation and pipework fabrication techniques for RAC systems and handling fluorinated gases and ozone-depleting substances. You will achieve a City & Guilds Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Installing and Maintaining Refrigeration Systems or a City & Guilds Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Installing, Testing and Maintaining Air Conditioning and Heat Pump Systems, depending upon the pathway selected. Unless exempt on entry, you will also achieve Level 2 Functional Skills qualifications in English and Maths and a Level 1 Functional Skills ICT qualification.You will learn through a combination of on- and off-the-job training. You will attend college one day per week during term time and spend the rest of your time earning and learning in the workplace. You will be assessed on a continuous basis through a combination of knowledge and practical assessment activities, including assessment of activities in the workplace. The Apprenticeship has a minimum duration of 24 months unless you are aged 19 or older and have undertaken relevant prior learning Your progress will be continuously monitored and supported by an Apprenticeship Achievement Officer.
