About this course

This course is for learners who can already communicate with some confidence in common tourist and social situations and who would like to improve their competence in understanding and speaking French.

You should have received approximately 70 hours of tuition in the language. You should be able to cope reasonably well in common tourist and social situations and should be able to use basic past, present and future tenses with a fair degree of accuracy.

Course programme

How will I learn?

By hearing spoken French relating to different settings and being required to interact with others using the language you have encountered.

How will my progress be monitored and assessed?

Your tutor will continually observe and support you and give you regular feedback about your progress in class. You will be given some homework tasks - though these are not obligatory - and any work submitted will also be assessed.

Your tutor can discuss progression opportunities at the end of the course.

What equipment or materials will I need to provide?

We are currenty using the course book BBC French Experience 2 to support learning. Purchase of this book is required to study this course.

What other support is available?

Help with numeracy or literacy is available. ICT drop-in sessions are available during term time and are open to all learners. Additional support can be provided for students with learning difficulties and/or disabilities. Learner Support Funding is available for equipment, childcare and travel to learners who qualify. For further details please ask when enrolling.
