About this course

User Journey Maps: An important design tool to understand product service interactions from the users' point of view. Fast Prototyping Techniques- Rapid prototyping enables you to quickly create an initial version of a final product. using Data in Design- Data-driven design can enable you to make informed decisions about products, to help create better and robust experiences. Design Thinking- A method for practical, creative resolution of problems. proven and repeatable problem-solving approach. Pattern Libraries- Thorough overview and examples of software design patterns that you can apply in your development. Lean UX Principles- identify best practices for research and testing within an agile environment.

This course if perfect for those who have existing experience in UX to help take their careers to the next stage. It is suitable for a range of different career backgrounds and job roles. This includes: UX Designers, UI Designers, UX Researchers, Interaction Designers, Information Architects and those with relevant industry experience.

At least 1-2 years experience as a UX Designer or have taken a Beginner Course at UX Academy or somewhere else.

An evening course taught by seniors UX'ers with over 7 years experience. Multiple teachers deliver the class which provides a richer course. This is a practical course where you will build a project for your portfolio, which is why this course is delivered over multiple weeks, You will work in teams to develop your project.

Once an enquiry is made they will be added to our agile marketing system where they receive a number of different emails regarding getting signed up to the course.

We are currently working with UCL to get accredited more information will be provided shortly.

This course is aimed for beginners, however, prior UX experience is beneficial. We will be offering pre-course work so you can get familiarised with the presumed knowledge.

There will be some tools used in this program however, these will be provided.

Reading material will be provided before you begin the program to help you prepare for the training course.

Refunds will be provided up to 14 days in advance. Alternatively, you will be able to sign to our next training course since we plan on running two courses per year.

What I would highlight: Introduction to creativity exercises was my favourite. Along with practical knowledge I am taking back storyboarding and wireframing. I appreciate the ethos of Design is too important to be left to designers.

Week 01 - Advanced research

You will work on a challenge from day 1. Using the research techniques outlined to help understand the problem you are tackling and gain a deep understanding of the user needs. At the end of day 1, you will have conducted a quick research piece and be planning additional research using techniques taught in class. By the end of the research, you will have a strong body of findings that will form a solid baseline for your customer-centric design.

Week 02 - Interaction Design Techniques

Effective Interaction Design Techniques

You will better understand the problem. You will distill insights from findings. You will use synthesis exercises to reframe your challenge.

Week 03 - Design thinking

Following the advanced 'discovery' research, you will better understand the problem. Using point of view statements to frame the problem in different ways. An empathy and creativity exercise, rephrasing the challenges using user insights gleaned from research. You then start using methods like crazy 8 (Google Venture) to sketch solutions to help tackle your challenge. You will learn advanced ideation techniques you can utilise both as a team of one and as part of a multidisciplinary team. You’ll learn how to plan and conduct ideation workshops.

Week 04 - Solutioning

You’ll refine your prototype and test it live with users during the lesson. Use advanced design principles to progress your concept into the detailed design stage. Master mobile-focused interaction design techniques and focus on onboarding and providing your users with the best first time use experience. You’ll discuss methods to evaluate how ‘sticky’ is a product and whether it can form habits.

Week 06 - Research

Advanced User Research & Data-Driven Design
