Internal Verifiers Award

Level: This is a Level 4 course.

What is the Internal Verifiers Award course?
This course is for qualified and experienced NVQ Assessors who are seeking to be involved with internally verifying NVQ candidates†work and giving feedback to assessors about their decisions. You should be in a position where you are supervising the work of other assessors and giving them guidance and support.

NB An interview is required before you can enrol on this course .

Course topics
Units include:

• Quality assurance systems in your NVQ centre
• Inducting new assessors
• Carrying out Internal Verification and giving appropriate feedback to assessors
• Standardisation of assessment practice
• Preparing for External Verification visits and acting on feedback received from them
• The role of awarding bodies in the delivery of NVQs

Teaching and Learning
The course is practical and participative. You will be involved in group sessions with others doing the award and also one to one sessions with your tutor/assessor.

NB You will need to carry out much of the work necessary to complete the portfolio in your own time.

Assessment details
Assessment is by means of a portfolio of evidence gathered from a professional discussion with your assessor, and observations of you giving feedback to an assessor.

• City and Guilds 7303 -Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector (PTLLS)
• City and Guilds 7304- Certificate in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector (CTLLS)
• Certificate of Education

Notes
This is a Learning & Skills Council (LSC) funded course and you may be exempt from the tuition fee, however, you would be required to pay the registration fee at the time of application.
