This programme will prepare you to study on a range of degree programmes, including Politics, Media Studies, History, Anthropology, International Relations, Humanities, Cultural Studies, Criminology, Sociology and Globalisation studies... This course is aimed at those who are interested in politics, current affairs, and issues such as power, class, gender and race in contemporary society, and are considering a career in local government, the Civil Service, Trade Unions, Social Services, Voluntary organisations, Charities or NGOs... You will study an introductory sociology unit; examine class, race, gender & age; look at the relationship between power and politics and the impact of the mass media on society; conduct a research project concerning the impact of the Victorian period on the local area; examine literature from the counter culture; look at some of the issues in contemporary ethics; as well as examining the ways in which deviance has been defined and addressed... Alongside the subject classes, you will develop the necessary academic skills, such as essay writing, delivering presentations, research skills which will prepare you for study at university.

LASER Access to Higher Education Diploma: Humanities combined with Social Sciences Level 3
A minimum English level of B2 IELTS 5.5 (5.5 in writing). Completed 12 years of education and received good results in exams in your chosen subject, equivalent to GCSE Maths grade D.
