Interpreting Workshops

The Interpreting Workshops provide bilingual students with practical training in conducting consecutive interpreting sessions. The workshops simulate real-life scenarios in the public and private sectors. Skills in interpreting are perfected by practice and feedback from mentors is provided in a series of sessions.
INTERPRETING WORKSHOPS
You play the role of the interpreter and you interpret between an English-language speaker and a target language speaker. The two speakers carry on a conversation relating to business meetings or consultations made in the public services sector.
The English-language speaker and the target language speaker are mentors who evaluate your performance based on criteria relating to the following areas:
Workshop Mentors are professional interpreters, linguists, or Tlink instructors who follow our assessment procedures and provide feedback to you to help you improve your interpreting skills.
Telephone interpreting
Workshops are scheduled according to your availability to conduct them. They can be held any day of the week, including Saturday and Sunday. Allow approximately 40 minutes for the workshop. Schedules can be arranged to hold two or even three workshops weekly.
Because the workshops are personalised, your course can begin at any time you choose. Your sessions are individualised and feedback is on your performance.
You will receive a Certificate of Practice Interpreting from Tlink upon successful completion of ten (10) workshops.
Students can benefit from the training in a new approach to learning that focuses on demonstrable knowledge of business practices based on workshops replicating work-related scenarios in commerce and industry, the public services sector, NGO's, and institutions. The course helps build a strong cv to win over employers with a proven track record of accomplishments.

The course is essentially a job-related course with emphasis on practical, hands-on training that establishes credibility on a student's CV.

Any person who is bilingual. If you have a good command of English and speak one of the following languages, you can register for the course: Arabic, Chinese, Danish, French, German, Hindi, Italian, Japanese, Lithuanian, Polish, Portuguese, Punjabi, Romanian, Russian, Serbian, Slovak, Somali, Spanish, Swedish, Turkish, Ukrainian, Urdu, Welsh.
Workshops are run in all of the above languages.
The duration of the course will be between 3 weeks and 6 weeks, depending on the number of workshops you schedule during the week.
