A short course to help you to get started using MS Excel at home or at work. Discover the power of spreadsheets for producing financial or numerical information such as accounts or estimates, or for storing lists. At only £5 this course is excellent value for money!

What will I learn during the course?

The aim of this course is to teach you to create and use simple spreadsheets. In particular you will:

• Create a new spreadsheet

• Add text and numbers

• Format the spreadsheet

• Add simple calculations

• Create simple graphs

• See the potential of using spreadsheets in many situations

Are there specific requirements for joining?

This a course for anyone who is new to spreadsheets. It doesn't matter if you are not very confident using a computer, or if you haven't attended any training courses for a long time. We will be using some basic arithmetic.

How will I learn?

Mainly by demonstration and “having a go”. You will also be given handouts and the tutor will give you 1-1 coaching if you need it,

How will I know that I am making progress?

Observation ; personal tracking sheets ; progress review

Will there be homework? If so how much/how many hours?

Practice between sessions if you have access to a computer.

Parking & Venue Information

On Settlebeck High School site, entrance opposite the Fire Station. During the school day please park on Long Lane. Parking is available in school grounds out of school hours only. Walk to right of main building through metal gates. The CDC is the white building ahead. Walk through wooden gate into Primary School yard to find main entrance.
