If Contemporary Art sometimes seems a little disorientating, this two-day course will provide some relief! By filling in the key historical background, you’ll soon begin to form a clearer picture of the ideas and practices behind some of today’s most interesting and controversial works.
Giving shape to Contemporary Art’s often baffling variety, we’ll examine important practices and demystify the confusing jargon. Placing Contemporary Art’s development into a coherent historical context, this course will empower you to describe and interpret what you see in galleries in an increasingly constructive and engaged fashion.
The course is structured around lectures, class discussions and a gallery visit, exploring relevant concepts and historical questions.
