The course will explore a variety of drawing and painting techniques and processes to develop your confidence in portrait painting. You will learn how to structure and proportion the human face, how to construct and compose a painting, how to mix colour for skin tones and how to use expression and imagination toproduce a personal response to the subject.

Course programme

The course will explore a variety of techniques such as
Palette arrangement
Colour Mixing
Application of paint,
Textures,
Understanding light and tone
Impasto paint (thick direct paint).

Practical demonstrations, individual tuition, informal group discussion and review, peer and tutor feedback. All materials will be provided. VM028 Portraits 2, VM031 Painting: taking it further, VH025 Life Painting: 2 day pose, VH753 City Lit Year of the Figure and Portrait.
