• explore the language of etching, its techniques, formal practices and traditions in the context of other fine art media
• develop technical competence and a creative approach to etching techniques and materials, including plate preparation, aquatint, without needles, handling paper and ink, taking a print
• historical survey of prints and strategies towards practice
• health and safety issues in the workshop
