Course structure Course aims and benefits:- explore the language of etching, its techniques, formal practices and traditions in the context of other fine art media
- develop technical competence and a creative approach to etching techniques and materials, including plate preparation, aquatint, without needles, handling paper and ink, taking a print
- historical survey of prints and strategies towards practice
- health and safety issues in the workshop
- be informed about a range of etching techniques
- demonstrate an understanding of the characteristics of etching techniques
- further develop a critical awareness of their own practice
- demonstrate an understanding of all relevant Health and Safety considerations
