Make a stained glass window using traditional techniques. We will take you through al the processes needed to make a small stained glass panel from a selection of designs.

You will learn how to approach a design, measure, cut and handle glass safely. You will then select your design choice, colours and cut your coloured glass to size ready to assemble using Lead. Once assembled, you will then solder, cement and prepare your panel for polishing.

We always keep our groups low with 3 or less people attending this course, ensuring plenty of individual attention.

Private groups of up to 3 people can be arranged to suit.

About this course

To learn the basic methods used to make a traditional stained glass window. After completion of the course you should be able to make a small panel of your own independently.

All ages although I do not teach under 18's without an accompanying adult.

If you have problems with arthritis or weak hands, or cannot stand for long periods then this course may not be suitable for you. Also not suitable if you are pregnant or breastfeeding as we are handling lead.

With over 25 years experience in the glass industry, this course will teach you the basic skills you need - I set a few challenges to ensure that when you work independently you will know how to approach specific problems.

Course programme

Course review:

This course is designed for the beginner. Students will learn to make a traditional stained glass panel from scratch, to include cutting, leading, soldering and cementing. Each class contains a maximum of three people to ensure you receive our full attention.

This course is inclusive of all materials, tools and lunch.

You will make a piece of work approximately A4 in size from a selection of patterns supplied. This course is designed as an introduction to the complexities of designing and constructing a stained glass panel and the piece you make will be finished off in such a way that it can be hung from a window if you wish.

PLEASE NOTE: This course is not suitable for pregnant or lactating women as we willl be handling lead. Please remember to wear sturdy shoes and be prepared to get a little mucky!!!!
