Overview

  • Overview of security from a networking / distributed computing perspective
  • Overview of IPv6 and IPv6 security mechanisms
  • Running authentication and authorisation services on IPv6 networks and hybrid IPv4 / IPv6 networks
    • LDAP
    • Kerberos
  • Firewalls and intrusion detection in an IPv6 networked world
  • VPNs, tunnelling and IPSec
The course is an instructor led course with extensive hands on laboratories. Approximately 30% of the course time is devoted to hands on laboratories.

Course Benefits
The course covers a wide range of security issues pertinent to deploying pure IPv6 networks as well as mixed IPv4 / IPv6 networks that might, for example, occur during the process of migration from IPv4 to IPv6. The course covers not only issues of authentication and authorisation, but also such problems as denial of service attacks, software vulnerabilities and their exploitation, network monitoring and management from a security perspective.
