Who is this course for?
This course is for overseas students who wish to develop their ICT skills with a view to employment or studying further at Level 2.

What are the entry requirements?
You will need to have basic IT skills, knowledge of Numeracy and Literacy to Basic Skills entry level 3. Induction is taken very seriously at this college. You will follow a five week induction where your suitability for the level and type of course you are hoping to be on will be assessed. Successful completion of the induction period will confirm your place on a course.
After applying you will have an interview to determine which course is suitable for your needs and abilities.
  • Minimum Literacy Level: Entry 2

  • You can read and understand short pieces of writing such as letters, messages, simple stories, timetables and adverts. You can write short pieces of writing - for example an email to a friend, a simple letter, a story or a message.
  • Minimum Numeracy Level: Entry 2

  • You can work with numbers, symbols, and simple diagrams. You can add and subtract simple numbers and use simple fractions. You can use money, tell the time, measure things and know about squares, triangles and rectangles.


What qualification will I receive?
At the end of the course you will obtain a City & Guilds Certificate for IT Users.

Where can it lead?
You can study further on the ICT Users Level 2 course or the IT Practitioners Level 2 course.

What will I study?
On this course you will study :

* IT Principles;
* Word Processing;
* Spreadsheets;
* Databases;
* Using the Internet;
* Presentation Graphics;
* E-Mail
* Data Processing.

Different options are available on the different sites, although IT Principles is a compulsory element of the course.

How will I be taught?
You will be taught via lectures and practical sessions in the College's IT Suites using on-line materials.

How will I be assessed?
Assessment is via on-line multiple choice tests and practical IT assessments.

What support is available while I am on the course?
You will have a personal tutor during group tutorials to support you throughout the course. The College's extensive learning resources are available to all learners. There is substantial language support available for students whose first language is not English.

What will it cost?
Age under 19 on 31st August of the year you start your course? Study forFREE.

On income-based benefit? You could study for only £30.
