Throughout your degree you will study Italian language at an appropriate level. In addition, in each year, you will study one or two culture modules in Italian. In your first and intermediate years you will have a core module in Film Studies. In your final year you can take one or two optional modules in Film Studies and/or other departments within the university. In your final year, you can choose to research a dissertation if you wish.
Your year abroad will be spent studying at an Italian university alongside Italian students and immersing yourself in Italian.

About this course
This course (25% Film Studies) has a strong focus on Italian components covering language, culture, and literature but it is also intended for those with an interest in film, both Hollywood and European, and normally includes a component on Italian film.
Our graduates work for organisations including: United Nations, the Ministry of Defence, British Airways, BBC Sussex, Nestle. Job roles include: Lead European marketer, Freelance translator & Editor, German Language Teacher, Project Controller, European Graduate trainee, Events Assistant.
A level: ABB, including a modern or classical language
IB: 34 points, including 5 at Higher Level in any modern or classical language

We employ a variety of teaching approaches, including lectures, seminars (in which the emphasis is on student participation) and written and spoken language classes. You will spend the rest of your time studying independently, preparing for classes, reading or watching primary texts, engaging with secondary sources, writing essays and working on your language skills.

We will track your progress through a variety of methods, including language assignments, essays, presentations, portfolio submissions and examinations (written and oral). Throughout your course you will receive detailed, personalised feedback to help you to improve your skills.
