About this course

Sing an arrangement of a chosen song in an appropriate key, with a pianist.
Have an expanded repertoire of classic jazz tunes.
Enjoy an increased awareness of jazz protocols and the genre.

Music sheets supplied. Bring a device to record the first session at least.

Course programme

Vocal technique, breathing, projection, and 'styling'. Understand swing, latin and ballad feel. Be aware of song form and arrangements. Count in a song in the chosen tempo and correct feel. Microphone technique. Speak the lingo when talking to your accompanist.

Tutor demonstration of songs, and recordings will guide you. Singing as a group, and on your own. Bring a devide to record parts of class, and be prepared to learn a song or two for performance.
