Course programme

Keum Boo is an ancient Korean technique that literally translates as 'attached gold'. 24k gold foil is bonded to fine silver through a combination of heat and pressure - no solder is used, and the process really is magical! It is a beautiful way of using gold in your designs without breaking the bank.

This workshop is designed to give you a taster of this unusual technique. You will be using sterling silver sheet to make a pendant or a pair of earrings and, after learning how to 'deplete' the silver to bring the fine silver to the surface, decorate it with 24k gold. You will also take home with you an information sheet covering the points discussed during the workshop.

The price includes all the materials needed, including earwires and chains, and equipment and refreshments are provided.

Only 6 places available to ensure that everyone gets individual attention.

Under 16s need to be accompanied by a paying adult.

Private Keum Boo tuition is also available. This covers more topics in more detail, for example combining rolling mill printing and soldering with keum boo, and allows you to make your own design of a larger piece, or more than one smaller piece of jewellery. Participants in the taster workshop receive £15 off the cost of private Keum Boo tuition.
