About this course
Applicants will be expected to have a strong desire to perform and to be seriously anticipating a career in the Performing Arts. Four GCSE passes at Grade C or above including English and Drama are essential. All applicants will be expected to attend an audition.

About the course: The London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art (LAMDA) is the oldest drama school in the United Kingdom, founded in 1861. LAMDA examinations have a reputation for excellence across the world and City College is offering you the opportunity to achieve LAMDA-accredited acting qualifications. Students on this course will develop: Interpretive skills Technical skills Knowledge of the performance process The course is taught through practical work and offers a wide range of acting workshops, enabling the student to devise character and situation, develop acting technical skills, and understand how to create, shape and structure drama.
Course Content:
LAMDA examinations offer 8 grades
- Grades 1,2 & 3 being Foundation (Level 1),
- Grades 4 & 5 being Intermediate (Level 2)
- Grades 6, 7 & 8 being Advanced (Level 3).
Public performance is an important part of the course with students performing in a solo, duologue or combined mode.
Learning Style: Learning is by practical guided and unguided workshop sessions and seminars with some formal lectures.
Equipment Requirements: Students will be expected to wear modest, loose fitting clothing and trainers or bare feet to all sessions. Pendant jewellery must be removed and mobile phones switched off before all practical work.
Assessment: Assessment will be by a series of practical and written assignments.
Progression: With this qualification you could go on to university or drama school, including RADA. Others have found careers in television acting, directing, fight direction, cruise ship entertainment, radio presenting, as well as script supervision and producing in the LA movie industry.
Additional Information: Students will be expected to attend rehearsals outside of timetabled sessions
