Course programme

You will study

Land-Based and Animal Studies (large animals)

The practical parts of these courses are delivered at our private local yard. You will learn practical and transferable work skills in a friendly, supportive and interesting environment. There is a classroom at the yard but you will mostly work outdoors - our students get a huge amount out of their time there.

Among the animals at the yard are horses, ponies, pigs, sheep, goats, chickens, ducks, rabbits and guinea pigs. You will work closely with some of these animals.

The rest of the programme is taught here at college. Level 1 Work Skills is included in the course and you will be supported through functional skills in maths and English at your individual level. There will be a variety of trips and visits – most of these are used to put class learning in context but the annual paintballing day is really popular and this year students are also off biking in the Forest of Dean.

There will also be a work experience element which allows you to gain real-life experience supported by the college, to back up your studies.

There will be a variety of trips and visits – most of these help to put class learning in context and we go paintballing every year. Last year we had a great day biking in the Forest of Dean and there is a field trip every summer term.
