What qualifications do I need?

You will need to have completed Land Based Engineering Operation at Level 2. There will be a formal interview where you will be required to demonstrate enthusiasm and commitment. You must be in full-time employment with a Land Based Engineering company.

What’s involved?

The Apprenticeship covers all aspects of machinery service and repair for the wide range of equipment used within the Land Based industries. It will cover machinery related to the domestic and professional market including 4 and 2 stroke engines, diesel systems, hydraulics, electrics, transmissions, braking, steering systems and thermal joining processes. All topics will cover fundamental engineering principles as well as fault diagnostic procedures.

How will I be studying?

You will attend College on a block release basis for twelve weeks, in blocks of 2 to 3 weeks at a time.

The Apprenticeship is work and College based, proving practical competence through assessment and theoretical competence through on-line testing. A Work Based Recorder will be nominated by your company who will mentor you through your training.

Where can I move onto after this course?

You will now be qualified to a technician level and could be eligible for promotion within your company. Further professional development can be gained through manufacturers courses. Many students that have attended the college are now workshop managers, regional support managers for distributors or own their own business.
