This course will help you learn and understand the basic practical skills necessary to work in the horticulture industry. It will help you develop your plant knowledge, basic horticultural science and planning of horticultural activities. On this course you will study: covering ground preparation, planting, propagation and maintaining plants, safe working practices and maintenance of equipment. You will also be working together and gain team building skills.

Entry Requirements

There are no formal entry requirements for this course, however, you will need to have a keen interest in the subject and will need to demonstrate suitable levels of numeracy and literacy.

Delivery and Assessment

You will be assessed throughout the year; this will include practical assessments, written reports, exams, a portfolio, presentations and posters.

Progression

Once you have completed this year, you could continue onto the Level 2 Diploma in Horticulture, or gain employment as an assistant/junior gardener.
