Landscape Painting

With the stunning views of Burton Court, near Leominster HR6 9DN to inspire, we explore different ways of recording and interpreting the landscape in paint. You choose your medium, all techniques demonstrated.

Day 1

Introduction and coffee.

We look at way a range of different artists have interpreted landscape painting. Demonstration of how to select a view, composing picture. Demonstration of how to capture a view in pencil, noting methods for recording light and shade and colour references.

Students spend an hour drawing. Review drawing. Demonstration of colour mixing and ways in which these can be applied to our painting. Acryliic and watercolour techniques demonstrated.

Lunch

Students complete first painting.

Day 2 and 3

Follows a simliar pattern to day one. Cezanne being the theme for day 2 and Constable for day 3. Watercolour, oil and acrylic techniques will be demonstrated on both days as appropriate.
