Today’s managers and leaders need to successfully navigate a disruptive and continually changing organisational landscape. Within a volatile, uncertain, complex and ambiguous (VUCA) environment, their performance is being challenged in unrelenting ways.

Now more than ever, successfully embedding a sense of leadership into an organisation can be the difference between success and failure, or mere survival versus profitability. Whether it is a private, public or non-profit organisation, strategic leadership development is an essential ingredient to organisational resilience and sustained relevancy.

Our MA in Leadership and Management seeks to accelerate the mind-set of managers in order to help them to become responsible, reflective, and strategic leaders in any given field.

Our programme has been newly redesigned to reflect the changing pace of organisational decision-making where traditional management theories and practices may no longer be fit for purpose.

There are three recurring themes throughout the programme: relevancy, responsibility and reflection as these three traits underpin effective management and leadership.

About this course

Our programme focuses on preparing organisational leaders to actively engage with, and navigate, fluid, interconnected and (often) disruptive factors within the global market place.

You will learn to read and translate global uncertainties and disruptive factors, and quickly adapt these circumstances to your organisation’s competitive advantage to ensure sustainability.

A team of colleagues who retain close links with external organisations and employers has developed the MA in Leadership and Management – we make use of external speakers and industry contacts to develop relevant course materials.

This programme is aimed at those who wish to develop a deep understanding of the nature of leadership and the practicalities of management in a world of volatility, uncertainty, change and ambiguity.

With the focus of the programme on applied leadership and management, the confidence, knowledge and skills developed throughout the course will be transferable into the workplace whether it be a private, non-profit or public organisation.

You will develop advanced techniques and in-depth knowledge of timely issues that today’s leaders and managers face, so that you can continue to progress in your careers.
This programme is designed to meet the requirements of a range of sectors. There is a strong emphasis on future employability, and helping you progress as senior leaders and managers or, in the wider context, as consultants and business developers. You may also choose to progress to PhD studies.

Entry qualifications: Hons Degree or academic equivalent
Non-academic entry requirements: review of work experience, letters or recommendation, interview (via Skype or in-person)
IELTS: 6.5 (if applicable)
