  • I took this course earlier this year...I aimed to learn how to do my own make-up properly and enjoyed it so much (and found I had a nak for it) that I have decided to start getting qualified to work as a make-up artist and hair stylist. I was reallly pleased with the course, Sam is a really friendly and I felt confident because she knew what she was talking about. The thing I liked the most is that she managed to find my strengths and weaknesses and really tailored the course to make sure that I was fully confident. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this course to anyone...

  • It is one to one and tailored to suit what I wanted out of the course. It is impossible to remember everything because there is so much information to take in but the thing I liked was that Sam gave me a detailed training guide where I made notes which I refer to all the time.

It was very useful because I have spent so much money on make-up but the course made me realise that the money is watsed unless you know how to use it properly, with the right tools.
Definitely - Sam is professional and knowledgable and really knows what she is talking about. I wasn't confident in doing my mascara because I really don't like touching my eyes, but Sam really encouraged me and showed me different techniques.

This course was held at my house on a weekday evening which was great because I haven't found a course which suits my availability and knowing that I don't have to travel anywhere is a bonus after a heavy day at work!

I thought it was really good value for money - compared to how much money I spend on buying myself make-up, it was a real investment learning how to use it properly.

What could be improved: That it had to end! No but really, I can't really think of anything negative because it has inspired me to make a career change...Thanks Sam!

Course programme

The course will cover the following in detail:

Consultation

Here we will discuss your taste, how you feel about applying make-up, areas that you struggle in and particular looks you would like to learn to create. This will dictate the material covered in your lesson.

Skin Preparation

You will learn how to prepare your skin for make-up application. We will assess your skin type and you will learn about what products are best suited.

Foundation colour matching and application

We will take a look at any foundation you currently use, and advise as to whether or not this is the best one for your skin type and colouring. We will carry out a colour match, and give you information of what colour we judge to be right for you. You will also learn how to colour match yourself, and the art of applying foundation correctly.

Eye make-up

Using information from your consultation, we will show you the correct way of applying eye make-up according to your taste, eye shape and skin type.

Lips & Cheeks

You will learn how to apply lip colour neatly and in a way that lasts, as well as receiving advice on what colours and types of lip colours suit you. We will teach you how to enhance your lip shape according to what you would like e.g. make your lips look plumper, thinner etc.

We will also teach you how to apply blusher to shape and contour your face, enhance your cheekbones, and the suitable colours for your skin tone and various looks.

Finishing Touches

We will teach you how to complete your make-up look with the finishing touches required to make it look professional and long lasting.

Finally we will combine all the information we have gathered and the skills you have learnt to create:

1 Special Occasion Look

1 Everyday Look
