This course is subject to validation with The Open University.
This is a two-year, part-time Higher Education programme.
It is aimed at students who are currently employed in (or have access to) a Learning Support environment and wish to develop their vocational and academic expertise.
Benchmarked to vocational knowledge, the course encourages you to integrate theory and practice and to apply what you have learnt to the problems that you encounter in the workplace.
The FdA is also aimed at applicants who may not previously have considered studying for a higher level qualification.

During this course the following 20-credit units will be covered: Principles and Practice of Learning Support: Developing Professional Practice Academic Study Work Based Learning Understanding Specific Learning Differences and Disabilities ICT in a Learning Support Context Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) Advances Professional Practice Curriculum Studies and Education Policy: Contemporary Issues in Curriculum Managing Challenging Behaviour Reflective Practice Becoming a Researcher: Work Based Project Throughout the course, you will be encouraged to reflect upon your professional experience and engage in evaluative and analytical thinking. This course is delivered over one afternoon/evening per week at the Technology Campus. Level 2/3 (in relevant subject area; for example, Level 2/3 Supporting Teaching and Learning (STL), or Children and Young Peoples Workforce at Level 2/3).
