Who is the course for?
An Art course will help prepare you to study an Arts based subject at level 3 and students serious about doing this should combine the course with GCSE Photography and GCSE English.

Content outline
Coursework unit 60%

An investigation into the work of various artists and differing techniques.

You will keep a sketchbook recording your written research and the practical work you did in the style of the artist as well as your own independent work.

Examination Unit 40 %

You work to a given theme, producing work based on research of how other artists have interpreted this theme. This culminates in the production of a final piece of work under exam conditions.

Method of assessment
Coursework 60%, examination 40%.
