Course Details

A variety of food preparation and cooking skills plus: Level 1 Multi skill in 12 weeks Food and drink service skills Key skills IT Basic food safety certificate Basic health and safety certificate Customer care skills Working with others This course includes NVQs in Food Preparation and Cooking at Levels 1 and 2. How quickly you are targeted to complete the Level 1 will depend upon satisfactory interview and school achievement and our induction process. All theory units are externally tested.

Qualifications required:
Enthusiasm for working in the catering industry and a good school reference. A committment to complete both theory and practical work. Grades A-D at GCSE level, with a minimum of 3 Ds (Including English and Maths).

Food service and kitchen uniforms and strong flat shoes to protect your feet as well as theory files. Roy Hayter, 'Food Prep and Cooking', 'Food and Drink Service', Practical cookery, Ceserani and Kinton textbooks. Learners are advised not to purchase text books until the titles are confirmed by tutors.

Progression:
Depending upon progress learners may study food preparation and cooking units at NVQ Level 3 or seek employment within the hospitality and catering industry.
