Applicant must be 18 years or over. There are no formal entry requirements. However, candidates are advised to have a level 1 or equivalent qualification in English from overseas countries.

Structure of the Qualification:

The EDI Certificate in ESOL (Skills for Life) Level 2 will be awarded to candidates who successfully complete the learning outcomes and assessments for the following:

  • Unit 1 Speaking and Listening
  • Unit 2 Reading (by National Literacy Test Level 2)
  • Unit 3 Writing

Candidates can complete, and receive recognition for individual units and they can also progress to the full Certificate in ESOL (Skills for Life) Level 2 qualification on successful achievement of the 3 compulsory units for this qualification.

Unit 1 Speaking and Listening

In a wide range of formal and social exchanges:

1.1 Listen and respond
1.2 Speak to communicate
1.3 Engage in discussion

Unit 2 Reading

In a wide range of text types:

2.1 Recognize and understand language and structures at text level
2.2 Recognize and understand language at sentence level
2.3 Recognize and understand language at word level

Unit 3 Writing

In a wide range of documents

3.1 Employ written language and structures at text level
3.2 Apply written language at sentence level
3.3 Apply written language at word level

Progression: Further study in any discipline.

Additional information

Payment options: Tuition fees : £3,500 per year for overseas students. Tuition fees : £1,750 per year for local students. The college has the right to revise and amend the fees schedule without any prior notice. Students are to pay requisite tuition fees upon admission either in full or in instalments as agreed with the admissions department of the college. However, any student paying full tuition fees at a time will receive a 10% discount depending on duration and programme. Fees can be paid by bank draft, cheque, bank transfer, credit card or cash.
