This syllabus provides the opportunity for the development of students understanding and practical experience of photography. Photography is considered as extending from the arts to the sciences and involves artistic expression and the application of technology. Students must be prepared to go to various places around the city to take photographs. Digital Photography is a part of the course.
Method of assessment
Coursework (60%)
Coursework includes the making of photographs in two separate projects, making reference to the work of artists and famous photographers.
Controlled Test (40%)
Each candidate submits a set number of photographs, with written support in response to a theme set by the exam board.
Students are expected to possess their own 35mm camera, which does not need to be new. The college provides a minimum of materials for the course and students should expect to purchase some of their own photographic and related materials, at a cost of about £10 per term.
