Course review:
A stroke happens when the blood supply to part of the brain is cut off and brain cells are damaged or die. Strokes strike suddenly and have an immediate effect. A stroke can damage mind and body, including body functions, our thought processes, our ability to learn and how we feel and communicate. It can take a long time to recover from a stroke and most stroke survivors will have long-term problems. Sadly, in the most severe cases, strokes can be fatal or cause long-term disability.
Rehabilitation is crucial to support the Stroke survivor improve their quality of life. Health and social care staff who take this course will be able to gain an understanding of their key role in not only trying to spot the signs and prevent Stoke attacks but also help survivors get back to living as normal life as possible after a Stroke and helping survivors live with the long term affects of a stroke.
This course is for health and social care staff wanting to gain a clear understanding of Stroke. It covers what Stroke is, the types of stroke, the symptoms, risk factors, post stroke effects, prevention and medication.
