2. Course description This course is a great mix of the theoretical and the practical. Units you'll cover will give you a good understanding of what's involved in supporting teaching and learning and how you can enhance the development of a child or young person, they include: - Child and young person development - Safeguarding the welfare of children and young people - Communication and professional relationships with children, young people and adults - Equality, diversity and inclusion in work with children and young people - Support children and young people's behaviour You'll be fully supported by your tutor who will do all they can to support you through the course to ensure you get the best possible experience and succeed in your assignments.

Entry requirements You'll need to be aged 19+, have English and maths at Level 1, secure a voluntary placement for a minimum of 12 hours per week children or young people aged 5 to 16 (we'll need a letter from your placement confirming this), to undergo an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check and have satisfactory references. A Childcare Foundation Learning Programme qualification at Merit is preferable but not essential. 4. Equipment required No equipment required 5. Assessment method Assignment tasks, direct observation at placement and a portfolio of work.
