2. Course description The BTEC Level 3 Diploma requires successful completion of 9 units including: Communications for Technicians; Mathematics for Technicians; Electrical & Electronic Principles; Applications of Electronic Devices & Circuits; Electronic Measurement & Test; Applications of Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs); Project. After successful completion of the first year, you may wish to sign up for Extended Diploma which requires successful completion of a further 9 units. As part of your programme you will also complete functional skills in English, Maths and ICT at the correct level for your programme. You may also complete the wider Key Skills: Working With Others and Improving Own Learning & Performance

Entry requirements You will need four GCSEs at grade C or above including Mathematics and Science (preferably grade B) and English (typically), or an intermediate GNVQ qualification in Engineering or an Edexcel BTEC Level 2 Extended Certificate (e.g. First Certificate). Considerations will be given to mature students or those not having the qualifications above who may be admitted to the programme at the discretion of the College if it is felt that the student is likely to be successful. 4. Equipment required No equipment required 5. Assessment method The programme is assessed by a range of methods, including projects, presentations, case studies, in-class assignments and coursework. There will also be external tests in some of the subjects you will study.
