The Level 3 Certificate in Preparing to Work in Early Years Education and Care prepares learners to work with children from birth to 5 years and gain knowledge of children aged 5 to 7 years.

This qualification provides learners with a direct progression route on to the Level 3 Diploma in Early Years Education and Care (Early Years Educator).

About this course

This qualification may enable learners to work under the supervision of Level 3 staff in a variety of roles in an early years setting; however, it does not provide a license to practice.

The Level 3 Certificate in Preparing to Work in Early Years Education and Care prepares learners to work with children from birth to 5 years and gain knowledge of children aged 5 to 7 years.

You should be at least 16 years old. We do not set any other entry requirements but colleges or training providers may have their own guidelines.

To gain this qualification the learner will need to:

• pass all 12 mandatory units (internally assessed using a range of assessment methods)
•complete one externally set, externally marked Short Answer Examination.

Assessment opportunities for all the externally set and marked assessment for this qualification will be limited to one attempt and one further reattempt opportunity to undertake an alternative assessment
