2. Course description This course is designed to build on the knowledge and skills you already have or may have gained at Level 2, by going deeper into the theories behind child and young person development.  You'll learn:           child and young person development     safeguarding     communication and professional relationships     individual and team practices in schools     health and safety     supporting positive behaviour     supporting lesson activities     English and maths        You'll also be able to put everything you've learned in the practice by attending a placement in a school. You'll need to secure a placement for at least 12 hours per week in a role which supports a pupil's learning at Year 1 or above.

Entry requirements You'll need to have one of the following:      4 GCSEs at grades A*-D (including English language and maths - one at grade C and one at grade D)     Level 2 Supporting Teaching and Learning Certificate plus GCSE English language and maths at grade C or above  You'll also need to be motivated to learn and be prepared to undertake English and maths as part of your study.  You will also need a satisfactory Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check and satisfactory reference from a school, employer or professional.  You will also need to secure a voluntary placement for a minimum of 12 hours per week in a role that supports a pupil's learning at Year 1 or above. 4.
