This NVQ is aimed at practioners working directly with clients, providing advice and guidance. Candidates will be working with information that is often interpreted by others, usually working within some clear guidelines.

About this course
Individuals need to be 16 years or over and currently working in either a paid or voluntarily capacity.
There are no formal entry requirements but learners may find it useful if they have already completed a Level 2 qualification.
A good standard of literacy is required.

Course programme

Course Content
The qualification is made up of three mandatory units
·Establish communication with clients for advice and guidance
·Support clients to make use of the advice and guidance service
·Review own contribution to the service
Plus three optional units chosen from the following
·Develop interactions with the advice and guidance clients·Interact with clients using a range of media
·Assist advice and guidance clients to decide on a course of action
·Prepare clients through advice and guidance for the implementation of a course of action
·Assist clients through advice and guidance to review their achievement of a course of action
·Negotiate on behalf of advice and guidance clients
·Contribute to the effectiveness of teams
·Enable and advice and guidance clients to access referral opportunities
·Provide and maintain information materials for use in the service
·Facilitate learning in groups
·Enable learning through demonstarations and instructions
·Make sure your own actions reduce risks to health and safety
·Ensure your actions contribute to a positive and safe working environment
How will I be assessed?
To achieve the qualification candidates need to complete the three mandatory and three optional units.
The programme will consist of workshops and support within your workplace. An assessor will be appointed to provide support and assessment with the workplace. You will need to present a portfolio of evidence for assessment and verification.
What can I do next?
This qualification can provide progression to further study at Level 4 in the same or related areas of study.
