About this course

C or above in GCSE English Language and Drama (or similar subject). In addition applicants must be successful at audition as well as meeting the requirements for their chosen specialism (Acting, Dance or Physical Theatre). Entry to the appropriate specialism and/or level of qualification will be determined at interview/audition.

Performing Arts
BTEC National Diploma - Two-year course
This course is aimed at students who are primarily interested in gaining practical skills and experience prior to joining the Performing Arts industry.

The units on the course have been devised to give a balanced programme for skills development in drama, dance and music; in addition, students will fully participate in all aspects of production and administration. Students will have the opportunity to perform in a wide variety of productions, including Improvisation and Variety, Theatre for Children as well as Jazz and Tap Dance.

Students will study 12 units from Musical Theatre Performance and a further six units from one of the following specialist areas: Acting or Physical Theatre. Regular trips and workshops are organised including trips to London theatres and an optional visit to â€-Disneyland Paris†to explore behind the scenes.

Careers and Further Studies
Students who enjoy working in a team will find that this course is the ideal springboard for training at degree level or for entrance to professional schools for the performing arts. It could also lead to direct employment in the Performing Arts and Entertainment industry or any career where excellent communication skills are required.

General Entry Requirements
At least four GCSEs at grade C or above or a BTEC First Diploma (or equivalent) in a related area at Merit level.
