Course summary:

Course content:
The AS Textile Programme consists of 2 Units:

Unit 1 - 'The Portfolio'
This Unit introduces the candidate to a variety of experiences, both traditional and contemporary, employing a range of textile and drawing media, techniques and processes on a variety of scales.
The candidate is required to underpin their work with sketchbooks/workbooks/journals and investigate Historical and Contextual references to support their work.
* Unit 2 - Externally set Assignment
The five questions for this Unit will be set by AQA as starting points for candidates work. The candidate will be required to select one question to research and develop.
Candidates work should include one or more of the following area(s) of Textiles.
* Fashion
* Printed and/or dyed fabric and materials
* Domestic textiles and wallpaper
* Interior design
* Constructed textiles
* Textile installation
Assessment procedure:
All units are internally assessed and externally moderated.
Qualifications achieved:
GCE AS Level Art and Design awarded by AQA
Progression opportunities:
Successful students could progress to an A2 Level in Art and Design (Textiles).
The AS level in Textiles will support other AS level subjects as an entry qualification into many H.E. courses.
