Minimum 5 GCSE grade A* - C including English Language. Please note, a GNVQ Intermediate or BTEC First qualification counts as equivalent to 2 GCSEs.

Critical Thinking AS level will help you to develop your skills in reflective reasoning. It involves the analysis and evaluation of information and argument, and will support you in the development of a range of intellectual skills so that you can use reasoning in order to reach clear judgements within a given context.
What will I be doing?Introduction to Critical Thinking
Covers the following:
  • The language of reasoning
  • Credibility
Assessing and Developing Argument,
Covers the following:
  • Analysis of argument
  • Evaluating arguments
  • Developing your own reasoned arguments
How will I be assessed?
Throughout the course you will be given regular assessed written tasks to help you develop the skills necessary for exam success.

You will be formally assessed by exams in June (some exams also available in January) as follows:

Unit 1 1 hour 30 minute exam (questions based on source material)

Unit 2 1 hour 30 minute exam (mix of short-answer and multiple choice questions)

Critical Thinking is a useful subject that will set you up for any degree course. It is well regarded by universities and develops skills which universities and employers value.
