Why study Computing?
The course aims to give you a technical understanding of how computers and software work. The course is split into two main components:
- the theory of computer systems and software involves you learning and understanding how computer hardware works and communicates and how large applications are designed and developed
- a practical approach to logic and programming involves you developing skills in both designing and writing software, primarily in C#.Net
In the second year you will consolidate your practical skills by completing a programming project of your choice with the opportunity to work with a variety of up-to-date software, a language appropriate to your application (Java, JavaScript, Action Script, C#, PHP, C++) and hardware; to develop systems based on your own design. You will experience the satisfaction of independent study and team work strengthened by teacher and peer support in a friendly and encouraging environment.
