Why study Applied Science?
This course has been designed to provide progression from Level 2 to Level 3; it aims to provide Science in context and links to the world of work. The course has a vocational context built into content of units; the units are designed to be relevant to local/national employers. Students have a wide choice of units to choose from. In addition, it may be of interest to students who enjoyed Science at school and who wish to study a range of science subjects rather than concentrating on studying the individual sciences in depth.
Applied Science is mainly assessed by portfolio work: two out of the three units are assessed this way. Bear in mind that this does not make it an easy option - there is a lot of work involved and deadlines which need to be met.
